TRIPS AROUND ALGHERO
LIDO OF S.GIOVANNI AND MARIA PIA:
it is a few minutes from the centre; a long beach of very thin sand and crystal clear water.
THE SHRINE OF VALVERDE:
km. 7. It is situated an a delighful valley and can be reached going along a country road with olive trees in full bloom on either sides.
NECROPOLIS OF ANGHELU RUJU:
km 9. This necropolis is made up of 36 hypogeons and boasts a prehistoryc group of "Domus de Janas", which is one of the most important in Sardinia. Some of the most significant finds, among wich a variety of small female idols, are on exhibition in the museum of Cagliari and Sassari. 
THE TOWER OF LAZZARETTO:
km 10. This XVII century tower is close to the wonderful beach of "Le Bombarde" where the sand is really white and the water crystal-clear.
THE NURAGIC GROUP OF PALMAVERA:
km 10. It is a very interesting settlement which stands near the sea; it consist of a "Nuraghe" with two towers surrounded by a nuragic village.
MUSEUM AND WINE-PRODUCING HOLDING "SELLA E MOSCA":
km. 11. A museum and well-known production of local wines.
BAY OF PORTO CONTE:
km. 13. It is the biggest natural harbour of the Mediterranean sea; it is close like a lake with its water nearly always calm.
VILLANOVA MONTELEONE:
km. 24. This village stands on the mountains, among stone houses, alleys and paved stairs. To point out the "Church of S. Leonardo". On the way there the wiew is very evocative.
CAPO CACCIA AND THE NEPTUNE CAVES:
km. 24. Capo Caccia, a rocky spur 168 mt. high overlooking an enchanting sea, is a stretch of coast of incredible beauty. One of its examples are "the Neptune Caves", which are esteemed among the most beautiful caves of the Mediterranean sea. They can be reached either through the "Escala del Cabirol" or more confortably tripping by boat. In their inside the big chalk-stone concretions give shape to walls, pillars and sumptuous halls.
SASSARI:
km. 33. It is the second big town of the Island and it is different from the other Sardinian towns as regard its architecture, its town-planning and its characteristics in general. It is worth visiting the National Museum "G. A. Sanna", where can be found archaeological finds belonging to different civilizations such as Protosardinian, Nuragic, Punic and Roman. In the inside of the museum there is also the Art Gallery. 
Of the same interest is the Rosello’s Fountain, with its late Renaissance style; the late XV Century Cathedral, the S. Maria of Betlem Church; the "Piazza d’Italia" and the Craftsmanship block, which stands inside the "Public Gardens".
BOSA:
km. 37. Going through one of the most evocative coastal road we reach Bosa, a nice small town which stands in the Temo River valley. Nearby it is worth visiting Malaspina Castle and S. Pietro Church.
THE HOLY TRINITY OF SACCARGIA:
km. 42. This XI Century Basilica has been considered the best example of romanesque architecture of the Island.
STINTINO:
km. 50. It is a small village of fishermen, famous thanks to the beautiful beach of "La Pelosa", which is in front of the Island of l’Asinara. This Island was the seat of a penal colony and it is bound to become a sea park. 
NURAGHE OF SANTU ANTINE:
km. 54. The "Nuragic Royal Palace" of Santu Antine symbolize one of the most eminent evidence of sardinian protohistory and bear witness to the civilisation stage reached by the nuragic people.

CASTELSARDO:
km. 57. A very picturesque village characterized by small streets and narrow stairs. It stands on a steep promontory overlooking the sea and surrounded by the remains of the town walls. Worth seeing the Elefant Rock with its peculiar add shape.
